Conor McGregor is talking about a Floyd Mayweather rematch all of a sudden

Conor McGregor is fighting in MMA this weekend but he is already talking about boxing again on the eve of the Max Holloway MMA rematch.

It is some years ago now but Conor McGregor competed in professional boxing before back in 2017.

In still one of the biggest boxing events of all time, mind you.

When he was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather inside the distance on August 26th 2017 in Las Vegas.

Fast forward some years and McGregor has been out of all combat sports for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis.

For all sorts of reasons.

But particularly lately, in recent boxing news, he has been speaking about boxers and boxing a lot again.

Taking shots at one point recently against former pound for pound number one boxer from the US, Terence Crawford, in particular.

Claiming he offered him a two-fight agreement to fight him in both MMA and boxing.

Something Crawford dismissed quickly enough.

McGregor also made some wild statements against boxers. Almost questioning their heart and courage and so on.

Now he has said he is actually open to doing a professonal boxing rematch with big US boxing name and former five-weight division champion Floyd Mayweather.

Take a look at that though. Read in between the lines there.

McGregor is literally saying this on the verge of what is supposed to be his big MMA comeback fight this weekend with Max Holloway?

A fight he should be laser focused for, should be not?

Clearly this is not the case and it is not the Conor McGregor of old.

The fact he is thinking so much about boxing on the eve of what should be such an important fight in MMA this weekend for him — tells you something.

That boxing is in his mind rent free as a sport.

Despite his attempted assailing and disparagement of the now thriving sweet science again.

He wants to get back into boxing to compete all of a sudden now in the Mayweather rematch because he sees boxing doing so well as a sport.

That’s what is going on here.

And he sees MMA not doing as great as it had been in recent times, coupled with the resurgence of boxing in the US and in the East this year at the same time.

Alas, Floyd Mayweather on his side is far from boxing actively at the moment with different issues away from the sport.

Floyd Mayweather has a professional boxing record of 50-0 (27 KO).

Conor McGregor has a professional boxing record of 0-1.
