Alexander Usyk is trying to fight Deontay Wilder next up in America and while it sells it seems like something else as well.
An easy cash grab.
Which, let’s be accurate here as always, it is.
Very much so.
An easy fight for Usyk even at this stage of the game where he in decline at the moment.
Usyk has not been his best version of himself as a boxer in years and it showed in his last fight.
He nearly lost to a kickboxer in the form of a fighter called Rico, who was a kickboxer, with just one pro fight to his name before their fight.
Usyk pulled out a last minute knockout win near the end of the fight basically.
But Deontay Wilder has gone to absolute hell lately in boxing.
His fight, his last one, was entertaining but pure trash from him.
The former heavyweight champion from Alabama just about saw him get the win last time over Derek Chisora in the UK.
It was a fight that Wilder got a points win in but looked dreadful. His legs had gone completely.
He was falling over himself and his once renowned punching power when it did land on Derek Chisora was gone.
He had nothing anymore other than a bit of heart and guts.
While Usyk is on the slide, and is looking for his last fight, and did the right thing to vacate the no longer important old belts recently, this is a sell out fight.
He wants to do one fight in America before he heads off and let him try.
A surprise opportunity for Wilder too if he does.
Is it the biggest sell out fight of all time in heavyweight boxing history?
Could be.
