Floyd Mayweather a short time ago in Greece had been talking about how the boxing industry has changed. He is right.
Boxing has changed. For the better.
And is part of the reason why the sport is doing well again and returning to the masses now and this summer.
And in the time ahead. Boxing will be left in safe hands as a sport, rest assured.
Mayweather speaking in Greece a short time ago was speaking about how in his day boxing was different on fighter losses.
How if a fighter had a loss he had to go down the rankings and work his way back up before fighting for a title again.
He mentioned that in today’s times that a boxer can have a loss and come back and still fight for a world title or be in a big fight.
He also mentioned that the standard of professional boxing has increased since his time.
In terms of there being far more gifted professional boxers internationally from around in the sport now compared to twenty or thirty years ago.
He is right but is only offering some parts of truth in what he has said a short time ago in Greece.
What he failed to mention is that a boxer can now lose a fight and come back in be in a big fight right away if he entertained in the loss.
If it was a good fight his stock can still increase and be in a big fight right away again.
That is what the market wanted and that is what it got, and, is why boxing is doing well again.
Due to great fights being made all the time.
Not staying undefeated and sometimes avoiding dangerous fights that maybe Mayweather did once or twice in his career.
And protecting the Mayweather undefeated record of 50-0 to use as a marketing gimmick to fight exhibitions later in life.
A marketing tactic that has fallen flat on its face in Greece this week and recently in Africa with the Mike Tyson exhibition collapsing.
Hardly anyone was with Mayweather from America in Greece this week and not many were interested in Greece in his exhibition as well.
Boxing is doing well again with the new way of doing things.
Boxing world titles are no longer important anymore.
The fights are.
Pound for pound is.
