Ryan Garcia wants to train with Naoya Inoue as he is in Japan all of a sudden at the moment in some surprise news in boxing.
Garcia had been in Japan before and had looked at doing a fight there in a new big market for boxing.
With Tokyo seeing the Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani fight recently doing over half a million (some say as close as a million) pay per view buys in Japan and doing the all time 4th highest gate in boxing history.
Some perspective on Garcia wanting to train with Inoue and some notes on both:
- Ryan Garcia has expressed interest in training with Naoya Inoue.
- Naoya Inoue is an undefeated four-weight world champion with a record of 28-0.
- Inoue has stopped 25 of 28 opponents by knockout.
- Ryan Garcia was knocked out once, by Gervonta Davis in 2023.
- Training with Inoue could help Garcia improve his head movement.
- Inoue is known for precise combination punching to head and body.
- Garcia has struggled against pressure fighters who cut off the ring.
- Inoue’s footwork could teach Garcia how to pivot and reset.
- Garcia has faster hand speed than most of Inoue’s regular sparring partners.
- Working with Inoue might help Garcia develop better close-range punch selection.
Naoya Inoue is currently number one in the Boxing News and Views pound for pound boxing rankings and can only bring on Garcia as a fight with training with him.
In all facets.
Who knows who will both fight next but the level of speed Inoue could bring in sparring Garcia would be off the charts and hard to replicate anywhere.
Inoue would benefit from fighting a bigger puncher to get him ready for possible fights with the likes of Jessie ‘Bam’ Rodriguez and others, as well.
