Michael Eifert Plans to Shock the World vs Dmitry Bivol - Can He

Shocks can and do happen not only in boxing but in professional sport all the time but can Michael Eifert?

Can he spring a surprise on Dmitry Bivol the light-heavyweight champion this weekend in Russia?

It would appear this is a difficult task.

Let’s look at a few things first for those new to boxing:

  • Eifert holds a strong record with a lengthy win streak entering the fight.
  • Plans involve pressure and making it competitive against elite Bivol.
  • Eifert younger (28) and hungry for upset in Bivol’s homecoming.
  • Limited finishing power makes shock difficult against Bivol’s defense.
  • Bivol’s experience and skills make him heavy favorite.
  • Eifert must survive early rounds and hope for Bivol ring rust.
  • Experts predict Bivol wide decision — upset chance remains low.
  • Eifert’s style allows Bivol jab dominance.
  • Shock would require perfect game plan and Bivol off-night.
  • Realistic goal for Eifert is competitive showing rather than victory.

We think he could do, but he won’t. Too tall an ask for him.

Some will point to Rico nearly defeating Usyk last weekend for the heavyweight title in what would have been the biggest upset in all of heavyweight, boxing and sports history?

It would have been.

It would something out of a Rocky story never before seen in boxing or professional sports history last week.

But we don’t think Bivol is on the slide as much as Usyk, well, we will see soon.

He possibly is on the decline but he should have enough about him to defeat Eifert at the weekend.
