We take a look at the Dmitry Bivol vs Eifert keys to victory ahead of the big light-heavyweight fight in boxing.
Bivol returns this weekend after heavy back surgery and some time away from boxing.
Previously he had avenged the only loss of his career though, to Artur Beterbiev, making it 1-1 so far in fights as professionals.
Here’s what we think could hold some keys to victory in his fight with German Eifert this weekend in Russia:
- Use jab early and often to control range and prevent Eifert entries.
- Maintain high volume punching and combinations to outwork Eifert.
- Employ footwork and movement to avoid Eifert’s pressure.
- Target body to slow Eifert down over rounds.
- Keep tight guard and block/absorb to counter effectively.
- Establish rhythm early to pull away on scorecards mid-fight.
- Capitalize on Eifert misses with quick counters.
- Pace himself using experience against younger challenger.
- Aim for wide unanimous decision or late stoppage if opportunities arise.
- Stay composed and avoid unnecessary risks in homecoming fight.
That’s what we think Bivol might use or at least needs to if he is to have a strong showing against Eifert.
He is a more accomplished boxer than Eifert but he can’t take him lightly.
That said, Eifert is a big underdog this weekend.
As only last weekend against showed though Rico was a huge underdog and nearly shocked the world against Usyk.
Here is the Bivol start time this weekend for the fight.
