The usually ultra professional Brian Norman missed weight why?

Fighters missing weight occasionally happens but it’s a surprise when someone like former world champion Brian Norman missed weight.

The fact Brian Norman missed weight last night initially was compounded by the main event fighter Keyshawn Davis also failing to make weight as well.

Both made weight eventually and Norman eventually came back to make weight at 148 pounds.

Here’s what happened and why it may have happened with Norman Jr:

  • Contract was 148 lbs: Not a 147 lb title fight
  • Only missed by 0.2 lbs: 148.2 lbs on first try
  • Scale problems: People at weigh-in said the scale may have been off
  • Made weight easily: Hit 147.8 lbs on second try
  • 3 hand surgeries: Two left, one right since 2020
  • Long layoffs: Injuries limit roadwork and conditioning
  • Short for 147: He’s 5’8″ with lots of muscle
  • No issues at 147: Made 146.8 lbs vs Sasaki, 146.5 vs Santillan
  • Non-title bout: Less strict cuts for 10-rounders
  • Joked about it: Said he just needed a “bathroom break”

This is Brian Norman Jr’s first fight back since losing his welterweight world title against Devin Haney recently.

Remember that. He needs to win big this weekend and impress and his comeback fight.

We think he will have trained well and may have just messed up the weight on the day with water retention or whatever, or a diet error.

Expect him to come all guns blazing tonight in a great boxing fight card that hopefully should ensue.
