Shakur Stevenson is getting absolutely stomped on and wiped out worldwide at the moment after asking if he is a Hall of Famer already.
The pound for pound rated world champion is coming off a career high win over Teofimo Lopez recently where he dismantled Lopez easily on points.
But to ask people if he should be in the Hall of Fame already has gotten him flattened by people in boxing and around the world.
The tidal wave of people hammering him worldwide is something to behold on the X platform.
Let’s look at a few things first for balance:
- Career resume lacks wins over Hall of Fame level opponents.
- Hasn’t fought main rival Gervonta “Tank” Davis yet.
- Three-division titles came against non-elite fighters.
- Jamel Herring was 35 and past his prime when they fought.
- Joet Gonzalez and Edwin De Los Santos weren’t top tier.
- Lost super-featherweight titles after missing weight.
- Style criticized as defensive and boring by many fans.
- Low knockout rate compared to other elite fighters.
- Not ranked on most pound-for-pound lists despite titles.
- Biggest legacy-defining fights still haven’t happened.
- Hall of Fame usually requires longevity and marquee wins.
- Career is still early at age 28 with more to prove.
He could be in the Hall of Fame one day but who even knows what fights he’ll be in this year anyway.
He needs the Gervonta Davis and other big fights against other champions first to present his case.
For now he does feature highly in the Boxing News and Views pound for pound boxing rankings however.
