Why does Errol Spence talk like that still years later after the accident he had and maybe some of the boxing matches as well?
Spence still talks slow with a slight slur.
This was first noticed maybe seven years ago (nearly) after his car crash when he totaled a Ferrari.
Nearly ending his life.
Some things on this for those new to boxing:
- Spence was in a 2019 Ferrari crash where the car flipped multiple times.
- He was ejected, not wearing a seatbelt, and taken to ICU.
- Spence was charged with DWI, class-B misdemeanor, got probation.
- He suffered a detached retina in 2021 before Pacquiao fight.
- Spence “acknowledges [the 2019 crash] has hampered his activity in the ring”.
- Some listed is as crash, ICU stay, and DWI as factors ahead of Tszyu.
- No official medical statement has linked his speech to injuries but most think it is to do with it.
- Spence told press the layoff gave him time to “recover” after years at top level.
- Fans online discuss speech changes but no clinical diagnosis is published.
There is still a slight speech slur and slowed down way of talking and many new to boxing and even boxing fans want to know where it came from.
Based on research, the above is where it came from.
Spence soon gets back into a pro boxing ring where he takes on Tim Tszyu, son of former world champion Kostya Tszyu.
All the way up at 158 pounds.
