Mike Tyson has refused to rule out the Mayweather exhibition but realistically he and Floyd Mayweather are done. Learn more.
Both American boxers and former champions had until April gone to come up with the exhibition in the Congo in Africa.
They missed that deadline and that’s it for them. Here’s why.
- Missed April 25 date: Was set for April 25, 2026 in Congo but didn’t happen
- Date officially dropped: Veteran reporter Dan Rafael: “definitely won’t be that date”
- No venue locked: Source says “while it might be in Congo, no site is set”
- Tyson injured: Tyson disclosed a hand injury last month, effectively signaling it was off
- Mayweather passport trouble: IRS notified Mayweather of intent to revoke U.S. passport over $7.25M+ tax debt
- Can’t travel: If passport revoked, Congo site “would be completely off the table”
- No broadcaster: Still no TV/streaming partner announced months after reveal
- No promo rollout: “Limited public updates” and “no promotional rollout has occurred”
- Mayweather moved on: Confirmed June 27 exhibition vs Mike Zambidis in Athens instead
- Promoter deadline passed: CSI Sports had April 30 deadline to stage it, extended to May 30 but nothing happened
Mike Tyson had been on a great run but not anymore after the above. So long. Good riddance.
Mayweather on his side is still apparently in talks about the May Pac 2 fight in September live on Netflix.
An actual professional boxing match that Netflix announced on their official social media platforms not long ago.
Nothing concrete has come yet in terms of press conference and following Mayweather mentioning in an interview it could be an exhibition, he was crucified worldwide in the sport of boxing and worldwide boxing fans.
Realistically it has to be a professional boxing rematch or it won’t happen.
