What is Errol Spence walk around weight right now as he gets ready to go straight back into the deep end of boxing? Let’s take a look.
Spence has been off from active professional boxing for years over three and a half now and the last time he fought he was dismantled easily by Terence Crawford.
Before that too he was nearly shredded up in a car crash.
He always had the problem even years ago of putting on a lot of weight in between fights.
He’s been training well though recently and apparently is taking the comeback serious.
Here’s what we know going off Spence before.
Errol Spence Walk-Around Weight: 10 Quick Facts
- Errol Spence Jr. walks around roughly 169-170 lbs, according to his own comments after the Crawford vs Canelo fight.
- He’s said 170 lbs is his natural walk-around weight in interviews before moving up to 154.
- Spence has struggled to make 147 lbs for years as a welterweight, often looking drained during fight week.
- He weighed 146.6 lbs for his 2017 title fight vs Kell Brook.
- He weighed 147 lbs exactly for the Crawford fight in July 2023.
- He weighed 146¼ lbs for the Ugas fight in April 2022.
- Spence told BoxingScene in 2023 that the Crawford fight would likely be his last at 147 lbs.
- He planned to debut at 154 lbs if/when he returned after the Crawford loss.
- At 5’9” with a 72” reach, he’s considered the bigger welterweight compared to most 147-lb opponents.
- Cutting ∼23 lbs from 170 to 147 is why moving up to 154 made sense for his frame
Errol Spence is due to comeback against Tszyu all the way in Australia on July 26th — here’s what we think he’s walking around at.
Errol Spence vs Tim Tszyu – July 26, 2026
- Fight date locked in: July 26, 2026.
- Weight situation right now: Spence is possibly walking around 175-178 lbs in camp since he no longer cuts to 147. He used to be 169-170 lbs as a welterweight.
- He’ll only need to cut to 154 lbs now, not 147, so he can train heavier and healthier.
- Camp reports: Sparring partner Brian Norman Jr. says “The boy is on point – the boy is sharp”.
- 3-year layoff + car accidents + injuries are the big questions, but 154 suits his body better than 147 ever did.
Overall, he is training well but getting the weight off will be a big issue for him this summer as well.
Not the case for Tim Tszyu.
