It hasn’t been a good time for some boxing promoters lately and you get the sense that is about to go tenfold shortly.
It has been a great time for the sport of boxing however.
The sport is doing great and is on its way back to the masses all the time every day.
Some of the promoters have been very out of sorts and all over the place though for some reason lately.
Two of the more well known ones, Dana White and Eddie Hearn have not had much good to say on one another.
In his latest Dana White said of Hearn:
“You’re a f*cking bum. I’m old. We don’t even deserve to be on a card with real fighters.”
He’s right, there might be a small bit of demand to see them fight by a few hardcore boxing fans.
But the wider fans circle and general public want to see the best fighters fight the best fighters.
Not two older promoters who don’t actually compete as active fighters.
10 quick facts why Dana White vs Eddie Hearn boxing match is not a big seller:
- Both are promoters in their 50s, not fighters or stars.
- No mainstream appeal — casual fans don’t know or care.
- Huge age/physical mismatch kills hype and excitement.
- Fans want real fighters, not old execs throwing punches.
- Boxing/MMA fans are split and mostly hate the idea.
- Tickets and PPV would be priced too high for the low interest.
- No big rivalries or bad blood that feels real to viewers.
- Dana and Hearn already get plenty of TV time without fighting.
- Similar celeb boxing flops (influencers, YouTubers) underperform.
- Combat sports bubble has burst — only big names like Jake Paul draw now.
The Dana White Eddie Hearn beef looks to continue on as long as they around.
Who knows what will happen both of them this year.
Boxing however will move on and do great regardless.
It is about the best fighters fighting the best fighters at the end of the day.
