Jai Opetaia was stripped of his IBF title but won instead the Zuffa Boxing Belt.
In their first ever cruiserweight title for the belt that was created at the weekend just gone on Zuffa Boxing 04.
What a victory and what a win for Zuffa Boxing and the UFC who part own them as well.
A huge victory for the sport of boxing as the garbage IBF whom stripped Opetaia in a strange situation lost all respect from fans.
Their and the other ones WBC, WBO and WBA’s power is completely gone now and is never coming back to them.
This situation with Opetaia is just the latest tangible proof of this after Usyk chucked the WBO belt in the bin recently after not being interested in fighting Fabio Wardley his mandatory with them.
After Shakur Stevenson was stripped of his WBC belt recently and told them where to go.
And after Terence Crawford also did the same with the WBC recently — the latter being retired for boxing now.
That is four times now and fans have just grown tired of the old belt bodies now as they mean nothing to fans or the sport anymore.
They just don’t do anything for boxing, fans, the fighters or any of the promoters anymore.
The power is back safely and securely back in boxing’s hands now and it won’t be relinquished from here on in.
Opetaia won the Ring Magazine and the Zuffa world titles which are more than enough world titles for boxing moving forward.
Fans only care about seeing the best fight the best anyway so these two world titles will do fine and be plenty.
We and many others stopped recognizing the old world titles and stopped mentioning them by name where possible recently. Many others have as well.
Everyone else is following suit now.
So long with the old and welcome to the new better age of boxing.
Here was some of the Jai Opetaia reaction to him becoming new Zuffa cruiserweight champion.
