Barrios is underdog but more are given him a chance the nearer the fight gets.
Speaking at the final press conference this week he said:
“I’m truly honored to be a part of this huge fight. This is how it’s supposed to be. I am super prepared for this fight and have been really focused. Ryan is coming off a big loss, but he’s dangerous—everyone knows that. But this is my time to show why I’m the champion. I respect him, but in the ring, it’s business.”
He added:
“Someone said that I rate him [Ryan Garcia] on that level [of Pacquiao, Thurman, Gervonta], but he’s an opponent. We have to fight against him. We have to defend against him and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I want to make him uncomfortable. I want to exploit his weaknesses, which I think he has a lot in his fighting style. Just making Ryan uncomfortable, exploiting his weaknesses.”
He went on to say:
“I’ve been in deep waters before, and I know how to stay composed and break my opponents down. This fight is about proving that I’m not just a champion—I’m one of the best in the world at 147. Garcia has power, but I’ve seen it all in the ring. I’m ready to go through fire to keep what’s mine.”
He added further:
“I give Ryan credit—he’s fast, he’s dangerous, and he’s hungry. But I plan to pressure him from the opening bell and test how bad he really wants to be in there with me.”
Not long to go now and we will find out can Barrios spring a surprise and shock the world against erratic Ryan Garcia.
The pressure is piling on Ryan Garcia the closer the fight gets as well.
Even his promoter, out of sorts Oscar De La Hoya has said Garcia is a liar and that this weekend isn’t his last fight with him at all.
Whereas Barrios will be observing all this today and tonight and watching tapes back of Garcia’s loss to Rolly Romero last year as well to see other weaknesses.
