The wild and unpredictable Keyshawn Davis put right a bad night last year in the ring with a knockout performance this weekend instead.
He had moved weight after failing to make weight by over three and a half pounds last year.
Losing his world title due to his gross weight mishap last year.
He won by 12th round knockout a short time ago however against Jermaine Ortiz:
Good win for Davis. Time will tell how he gets on next later this year.
Going into this weekend Keyshawn Davis had caused some concern.
Alas, here’s the facts from his bout last night for those not familiar with him. Maybe tuning into boxing online as a fan for the first time:
- Fight result: Keyshawn Davis defeated Jamaine Ortiz by 12th-round TKO (technical knockout) at 2:47 of Round 12.
- Method: Davis dropped Ortiz twice—once in Round 11 with a body shot, and again in Round 12 with a combination (hard right hand followed by a body shot/left hook to the body)—leading to the referee stoppage with seconds left.
- Significance: This was Davis’s debut at junior welterweight (super lightweight, 140 lbs). He became the first fighter to stop Ortiz, who had never been knocked out before in his pro career (prior record: 20-2-1).
- Performance: Davis dominated with ring generalship, jabs, and body punching from the start, controlling the pace throughout the co-main event at Madison Square Garden, New York (on the Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson card).
- Updated record: Keyshawn Davis is now 14-0 with 10 KOs.
- Post-fight: Davis called out Devin Haney as his next target.
