Terence Crawford was on hand last night at the Ring Awards as he scooped a big award and opened up on retirement.
Some were surprised that he retired from boxing recently. Some were not though.
He got the 2025 Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year and spoke on retirement after.
Speaking on the red carpet after getting his 2025 Fighter of the Year award with a media scum Crawford said:
“Just everything I’ve been through—with the promoters, the media, my old manager, life, and so many roadblocks that stood in front of me to detour me from being here right now. All the emotions built up like, ‘All right, I did it. I did it my way.’ People telling me, ‘Oh, you’re a bad businessman,’ or ‘You need to go to PBC,’ or ‘You need to do this, you need to do that.’ I ignored everybody because I knew what path I was on, and that path was the one to get me where I am right now. So me doing it my way was just like, job well done.”
At the end of the day Crawford has said he will stay retired.
There is no indication of him changing that. Unless he is offered a huge fight.
That will happen of course but it is up to him to turn down the $100 million or more it would take to get him interested in fighting again.
