Shakur Stevenson On Why Teofimo Lopez Hasn'T Had A Knockout Since 140 Pound Debut

Teofimo Lopez has been in a bad run of form in boxing ahead of this weekend and one fact on his lack of knockouts was brought up.

Lopez hasn’t actually knocked anyone out since his debut at super-lightweight now (140 pounds).

In an interview with the Ring this was brought up this week ahead of Saturday’s big fight.

Stevenson said of the stat:

“I can’t say it’s the weight because, like I said, Steve Claggett was a smaller guy. And being that he was a smaller guy, I watched Teo load up and hit him big—hit him with the biggest shots that he could throw—and the guy just walked right through it. He just kept moving, walked right through it. So I can’t say that. I don’t know what to make of it. I think he can punch, but I think he overrates his own power.”

So, here’s the deal.

This was the fight and fighter that Lopez had his last KO against:

Teofimo Lopez’s last knockout victory was his debut fight at 140 pounds (junior welterweight/super lightweight).

  • Date: August 13, 2022
  • Opponent: Pedro Campa (Mexico)
  • Result: 7th-round TKO (technical knockout) – Lopez stopped Campa in round 7 after dominating and hurting him multiple times.

Lopez is a man known for knockouts and big punching.

So for all that time to go by is concerning for him.

Whereas Shakur Stevenson has been improving at the same time.

That said, let’s see.

It is up to Lopez to let his hands go and be aggressive from round one.

To get over the hump. Teofimo Lopez appears to be very nervous lately though.

Stevenson will be ready.

He’s ready.
