Professional boxing has always produced outstanding characters in boxing and outside of the ring over the years and continues to do so even to this day.
The younger generation maybe use bad language a little more than they should but you can cut them some slack for that, no one will ever come close to the character level of Muhammad Ali who trash talked with class and wit and intellect in his time.
Very rare, a pure genius in all divisions of mentality.
For us there is only one winner this year for the 2025 Boxing News and Views character of the year.
That’s the UK’s Derek ‘Delboy’ Chisora.
Another good year for him and he’s still in boxing and back to form even in the ring, now looking for his final and last professional boxing match next year in 2026 after one heck of a brilliant fighting career.

As tough as they come and a warrior but a class act away from boxing, his help to fellow fighters and his peers this year was a breath of fresh air and something all young fighters can take note of.
Many times he entered the ring with burgers after big time boxing events to hand to fighters in the ring.
Moreover, he went into the dressing rooms of fighters before their fights this year many times to pass on knowledge and advice to them prior to their fights.
Of course, someone can be a character but not have character.
Not Chisora.
