Where Does Terence Crawford Now Sit Among All Time Greats In Boxing

Comparing eras of professional boxing is always difficult and a bone of contention but Crawford’s accomplishment’s warrant it.

Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford etched himself into the annals of sweet science history this year when he defeated Canelo Alvarez by UD (unanimous points) decision over the course of twelve rounds in Las Vegas.

That night in September 2025 will forever be etched in boxing history as one of the great wins in the entire sport’s history.

He went up two weights to super-middleweight and beat another all time great in Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

He really started out as a lightweight though and maybe less before that, so to be competing and winning at that level at that weight is unheard of.

A boxing clinic as well, pure genius the man, Crawford.

But where is he all time? How would a Mayweather fight have gone in terms of matching him with the next best great of recent times in or around his weight?

To compare primes you’d have to put both in when they were at lightweight maybe as Mayweather could punch in those days before the hand troubles and so could Crawford at that weight, even though Crawford’s prime was later in life and you could say now is Crawford’s prime.

Difficult to say, but he has to be up there with the greats for us. Mayweather would have had some problems with him, he’s just a very good boxer and a very good fighter.

We think he is top 10 of all time best ever boxers that ever lived, same with Mayweather and Pacquiao, hard to say where all three in the top ten all time pound for pound boxers list they both rank in though.

Crawford is not done yet either, neither is Pacquiao, potentially neither is Mayweather if talks of this Pacquiao rematch happens.
