Why Have Odds Plummeted On Jake Paul Against Anthony Joshua All Of A Sudden

The numbers say a lot in professional sports and the line in sports books on Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul is changing a lot dramatically, currently.

As in, very big moves across all lines literally in recent days.

We think bookies and sports books around the world changed their tune for a few reasons.

One of which was the first head to head and meeting at the first press conference last Friday. Before that Paul was coming in at around 20/1 and 19/1 just to beat Joshua.

Over the weekend he’s come in now as low as 9/1 and even 8/1 in places to win the bout. By knockout is possibly around 10/1 or so now as well.

That is very different, very different also from the biggest upset in heavyweight boxing of all time when Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson as a 42/1 shot in Tokyo back in 1990.

We think sports books saw an Anthony Joshua more emotional that usual, talking a bit more than usual at times, and just something seemed off with him.

Jake Paul as well didn’t have any fear in him by the looks of it, at all.

Mentally he seemed calm and in a good place. He will need to be using his speed of foot and head movement to get inside early on and potentially land something on Joshua, he’s a big underdog but you never know in heavyweight boxing.

Joshua comes into the fight off the back of the most brutal knockout ever seen in heavyweight boxing history against Daniel Dubois in 2024.

Keep in mind as well Dubois was knocked out then after that, earlier this summer only in 2025, against division kingpin Oleksandr Usyk.

Here’s how much Joshua and Paul are expected to earn.
