Over the years boxing has a long history with things like Hollywood, the music industry, the wider entertainment and pop culture industry and of course the wider sporting industry.
For decades, maybe since the beginning of big time professional boxing in the early 20th century as we know it today, since the foundation of the Marques Of Queensberry rules, the rules boxers in professional boxing fight under today, famous people have been ringside or in attendance a the big fights.
Boxing started that and the tradition goes way back, it adds a level of intrigue for the masses when every big fight rolls around when they see famous people at the fights.
Saudi Arabia is not the only nation and government in the East coming to professional boxing at the moment, there’ll be more but they have
played a key role without question.
At their events all over the world in both the East and West, there are many celebrities going to them now.
Former soccer player Thierry Henry of France and Arsenal was at the Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr rematch at the weekend.
The Use Of Ringside Celebrities To Promote Big Fights In Boxing
Hip hop icon 50 Cent walked Chris Eubank Jr to the ring, bringing in the live music element also to the celebrity element to bring in new fans to boxing from other audiences and markets, as well as make the live event experience boxing product better as well.
Then of course faded celebrities who know one really cares about anymore like Pierce Brosnan (the worst James Bond ever) was also at the fights at the weekend.
As well as that garbage actor in the movie Snatch known as ‘Turkish’, we forget his name again.
But boxing, more than most, does this better than anyone in terms of creating that intrigue amongst the masses and if boxing can get more A list celebrities to the fights, this is something good for both the East and West.
It might be an idea too to get more celebrities and business people from India, China, Russia, North and South Korea, Japan, South America and Africa as well, as in, famous people and billionaires from these places, to go to the big fights in both the East and West.
Why should we as a sport and industry always rely on the West for famous people as Hollywood is in terrible decline at the moment and the American celebrity industry is fading badly?
Why not more famous and super rich people from the above countries for a change? Who speak English?
Think about it.
It will bring more English speakers from the East to boxing as well and open up new markets better.
While still using the West and famous celebrities and past fighters in boxing from the West, still, of course.
The opportunity is there, China and India have nearly 3 billion between them (alone). That’s not forgetting all the rest above and more.
