The Australian past away this week in Brisbane after a battle with health challenges and Gareth A Davies of Talk Sport said on the X platform:

“Saddened to learn of the passing of Joe Bugner, aged 75. Defeated Sir Henry Cooper, fought Muhammad Ali (twice) and Joe Frazier. A brilliant defensive fighter and one of the characters of the 70s 80s and even 90s. RIP THE BLONDE BOMBER”

The reaction to the death of Bugner in the UK in particular has been large from older boxing fans.

But new boxing fans are learning about him now as well with all the old fight clips and footage being shared on him now.

As some of the old boxing guard passes on it is important new boxing fans and those new to the sport respect the history of what is the greatest sport on Earth.

Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren paid his respects to Bugner here.

Rest in peace.
