Joe Bugner Dies Boxing World Reacts

Joe Bugner dies and the boxing world has flocked to social media in its reactions and paying its respects here on one of boxing’s heavyweights.

Professional boxing has lost a number of high profile fighters and more connected to the sport this year.

Unfortunately another one a short time ago has been confirmed.

Joe Bugner who once fought Muhammad Ali, a Hungarian-born British Australian with citizenship in the three countries, has passed today.

Aged 75. The boxing world reacted as follows with some of this earlier:

He challenged Ali for the heavyweight title in 1975 but lost on points.

He was in iconic movies such as ‘Street Fighter’ as well.

A larger than life character who also shared the ring with the likes of Frank Bruno, Earnie Shavers and Ron Lyle.

As well as beating one Henry Cooper on points in a close fight, Cooper famously knocking down Muhammad Ali in their fight.

It is understood Bugner had been contending with some health issues and died at home in a care home in Brisbane, Australia.

Bugner finished his career strongly and as a winner as a prize fighter, winning the Australian heavyweight title in the late 90s.

He retired with a professional record of 69-13-1-41 KO.
