Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has taken some time in his response to the Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul Netflix event been officially confirmed.
A measured response at that.
It is an event due to the popularity of both men and personalities in the United States that has driven huge reactions and worldwide headlines.
Eddie Hearn Reacts To Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul On Netflix
Promoter Hearn knows the business of boxing of course as good as anyone, he said this week:
“You can’t blame Gervonta. Look at it this way and there is $5 to $7 million to fight Lamont Roach and it’s a 50-50 fight. If you lose you are totally f*****. Or you can get $30M for an exhibition against Jake Paul.”
When you put it like that, it makes a lot of sense why Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis took the fight when Netflix came to him with it, some say the fight is insane but it made business sense for Davis clearly.
It might not be an exhibition purely just yet though, it could be a hybrid pro fight and in that case things will offer some danger for a much smaller boxer in Davis, potentially.
