All three are Americans who won world titles in different weights. Mayweather started out very light as a WBC super-featherweight champion. Roy Jones went as high as WBA heavyweight champion. Andre Ward super-middleweight and light-heavyweight champion, one of the greats of his time as well.

Like Andre Ward and Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather basically fought everyone of his time. He took on all comers and in his case, and Andre Ward’s case, remained undefeated throughout his entire career and retired undefeated and on top of the sport of boxing. Many will see Mayweather as the greatest defensive fighter that ever lived. Others will say he is one of the greatest that ever lived. Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford recently said Mayweather is the best boxer that ever lived.
Boxing fans will debate these lists from now until the end of time, and then again in the next beginning after that, again.
Boxing is in a great place as a sport in 2025. Next phase begins.
Alas, boxing is a sport booming now worldwide and will continue to rapidly expand in the time ahead.
Professional boxing has won once again, despite the small number of critics the sport has that ‘boxing is dead’ — far from it — if boxing were like Dr. Dre maybe these words from him could be appropriate:
“Next phase, begin
Look who’s got you goin’ crazy again
I’m a trend, I set one every time I’m in
I go out, and just come back full circle again
You a fad, that means you something that we already had, but once you gone you don’t come back“
Professional boxing as a sport is the trend setter now. Worldwide.
Boxing is being made great again all the time.
All these new giant blue chip corporations, official State governments, commercial powerhouse businesses in the East and West, would not be awash in professional boxing (like they all are now) otherwise.
Boxing is flying.
