The UK is still of course one of the big countries in the world for professional boxing events and so on but this is a stark statistic for them.

Not long ago they were flying high. The likes of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua their main name fighters and champions.

Even Daniel Dubois up until recently as IBF heavyweight champion.

Enter Oleksandr Usyk, who proceeded to batter his way through the UK and end their reigns.

Not only him though.

They had 14 world champions back in 2016 and Boxing Kingdom on the X platform points out:

“The UK will have ZERO male boxing world champions if Sam Goodman defeats Nick Ball on August 16th. The UK had 14 male boxing world champions in 2016.”

Not many might be aware of that.

It just shows you the power shift in boxing and how things can change so quickly in the sport.

The UK at the end of the day though is still a huge place for boxing with quality stadium shows so far this year.

It will remain a big market for boxing into the future, rest assured.
