Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez are two of boxing’s most erratic, emotional, and unpredictable characters. From fake beards to security brawls to public meltdowns
They have to be a couple of the most emotional boxers and even sportsmen in America today.
They can deliver entertainment in boxing though, certainly Garcia did tonight in his second round knockout of Conor Benn.
Garcia called out Lopez after, some thoughts on this;
- They’ve traded insults for years, with a 2023 fight collapsing over money.
- Lopez showed up to a Garcia press conference in a fake beard and fake name.
- After Garcia’s KO of Benn, Lopez tried to climb in the ring and was blocked.
- Garcia screamed “I’ll beat your ass right now” while Lopez fought security.
- Lopez called Rolly Romero “my Judas” before their fight.
- His father pounded a table yelling “F— yeah!” at the presser.
- Lopez admitted he needed “mental stability” after being hurt by Romero.
- He compared his comeback to a “phoenix rising from ashes.”
- Garcia flip-flopped from “true professional” to threatening Romero in 48 hours.
- Both men contradict themselves constantly — neither can stay calm long enough to sign.
Security kicked out Teofimo Lopez tonight at the Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn fight, he is erratic and going off the hinges again.
Even though Garcia got a victory tonight and claimed he had been at peace, he looked very angry and all over the place in there after.
There proved to be some real mayhem in the atmosphere in Vegas tonight in boxing.
