Everyone is familiar that they are are never accurate and this is simply some hype ahead of an entertaining fight.
Champion at 147 pounds Rolly Romero played along in the hype of the polygraph test and you could tell he understood they are total bull crap and this had been to publicize the fight.
Entertaining idea but some notes on the thing;
- Polygraphs are pseudoscience with no scientific accuracy consensus
- The examiner admitted it was strictly “for entertainment purposes”
- Public setting with cameras invalidates proper testing protocol
- No proper control questions were used to calibrate baselines
- Rolly was nervous and joking–anxiety corrupts any readings
- They asked subjective opinion questions that can’t be true or false
- Rolly literally got his own name wrong–test didn’t flag it as a lie
- “Do you win?” is a prediction, not a truth–confidence ≠ fact
- No hesitation was treated as proof of truth, which isn’t how polygraphs work
- The whole thing was DAZN promotional hype, not serious testing
That proves that lie detector tests are in fact all lies in the first place, most people that have a brain understand that at least.
It proved to be some hype and entertainment ahead of Romero vs Lopez on Saturday night though.
Their former friendship is gone at this point and it is not coming back, possibly, but let’s see after the bout.
Advantage Rolly Romero in the mind games department through the polygraph test and more so far.
