Ryan Garcia wants Gervonta Davis again. We analyze the massive PPV numbers and record gate the rematch could generate.
It is a fight that sells in America and globally, obviously.
Big names that can punch, plenty of speed, personalities outside of the ring and so on.
The first fight had Garcia on his back knocked out in round 7 back in 2023.
He suddenly is calling for the rematch, a look at possible numbers it generates and some bits on the first bout;
- First fight did over 1.2 million PPV buys and generated over $100 million in revenue
- Rematch could easily surpass 1.5 million buys given Garcia’s surging popularity
- Oscar De La Hoya believes the rematch could do 4 million buys if built properly
- First fight’s live gate was $22.8 million at T-Mobile Arena with 20,842 fans
- That gate ranks as the fifth-highest in Nevada boxing history
- Average ticket price exceeded $1,000, rematch prices likely go even higher
- Davis demanding previously $150 million could push PPV price above the original $84.95
- Garcia’s social media following may make him the A-side in rematch talks
- First fight was the first PPV to crack 1 million buys since Canelo vs GGG II
- A sold-out Vegas arena plus 1.2-1.4 million buys would clear $130 million+ combined revenue
There is no chance Davis gets paid 150 million US dollars for the fight but it is a big earner for him if it happens.
He has not been around boxing or professional sport for a bit though, has Tank Davis.
It is not clear if his focus is on professional boxing, he is very unreliable.
Strange, too, particularly as boxing is doing great as a sport again and there are fights there for Gervonta Tank Davis if he returns, immediately, also.
The Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis rematch is a huge fight if they can make it happen.
Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn is planned first though next up this year.
