Tyson Fury did not box anything like the Fury of old tonight in boxing in Thailand and came across as done in the sport of boxing.
He got the victory in round 7 but looked very over the hill in the fight, getting tagged by a guy that had been beaten many times in recent years.
Should Fury retire after tonight in boxing? Most think so, but some balanced notes on this for perspective:
- Looked painfully slow and sluggish against a 46-year-old journeyman.
- Got caught clean multiple times by a faded, past-his-prime opponent.
- Took 7 rounds to stop a man knocked out in 2 rounds by a 19-year-old prospect.
- Showed no urgency or killer instinct; coasted through large portions.
- Drew boos from the crowd due to a lackluster, uninspired performance.
- Labelled “washed” and “shot” by fans and critics on social media.
- Looked overweight and out of shape despite being at his lightest weight.
- Fought in obscurity with no TV coverage and only 1,500 fans — beneath his legacy.
- Offered zero meaningful preparation for elite opponents like Joshua or Usyk.
- Suffered a damaging blow to his reputation with a pointless, embarrassing mismatch.
- Age and previous beatings (especially from Usyk) have clearly caught up with him — he has nothing left to prove.
Fury looked like he could not get off at times and kept trying to clinch and hold tonight too against his Polish counterpart.
His stamina had left him, his balance had, his foot movement had, his jab had, his punching and his speed had.
His timing had left him.
Bare in mind also that Fury already had a tune up fight in his Netflix comeback earlier this year.
