Naoya Inoue vs Jesse Rodriguez is presenting itself as a fight opportunity now provided one can win his next fight next.
It’s a very compelling scrap if they could make ‘The Monster’ vs ‘Bam’ at whatever weight it could be agreed.
Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue is just coming off his big UD points win in Japan over Junto Nakatani.
However ‘Bam’ Rodriguez must defeat Antonio Vargas first shortly this summer — some bits of information ahead of the fight to remember:
- Promoters confirmed Netflix executives want to stream Inoue vs Rodriguez
- Organizers wants the fight to take place in January in Japan
- Inoue is 33-0 with 27 knockouts
- Inoue is ranked number one pound-for-pound
- Inoue defeated Junto Nakatani before 55,000 fans at Tokyo Dome recently
- Rodriguez must defeat Antonio Vargas on June 13 first
- A win would make Rodriguez a four-division champion at 26 years old
- Rodriguez would move from bantamweight to junior featherweight to face Inoue
- Inoue has cleared out the junior featherweight division with consecutive knockouts
- Inoue vs Rodriguez would be the biggest lower-weight fight in years
Not long to go now until June 13th — if he can be impressive — that Naoya Inoue fight could surely be looked at.
At whatever weight or catchweight or whatever.
Who knows what fights both will be in next but it remains a bout that would display savage speed to say the least, off the charts speed.
Both Inoue and Jessie Rodriguez are both in the top 10 P4P boxing rankings.
