Alvarez came off a tough defeat in his last bout to Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford in his last contest just last year.
Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford comprehensively beat him even though he was stepping up two weight divisions from 154 pounds all the way up to 168 pounds at super-middleweight.
Alvarez is now hunting the above two fights and some things to be known on this so far:

- Canelo lost his elite pound for pound high rankings status when Terence Crawford defeated him
- David Benavidez has outgrown the division waiting for the Canelo fight at this point — he is moving on
- A Dmitry Bivol rematch would carry more significance than another 168-pound defense
- Canelo has never fought professionally in the UK as regards UK fighter Sheeraz, maybe not the biggest market for him.
- The super-middleweight division has fragmented since Canelo lost his undisputed status
- Canelo appears to be preserving his late-career record rather than seeking the most dangerous fights with fighting Christian Mbilli next this September
Here was Canelo and Christian Mbilli having their first face to face meeting recently.
He needs to be aiming much higher with all these opponents as a former pound for p4p boxing list number one or number two not long ago.
