How will Bivol’s body hold up in comeback fight after surgery ahead of his fight with Eifert in Russia?
We will find out this weekend coming.
On the surface level he looks to have used science and the appropriate methods and time to rest and heal that he has needed.
He hasn’t rushed the comeback from the surgery but the time is right now and he’s decided to come back.
Some things to note here going into the fight this weekend:
- Bivol had successful back surgery in August 2025 for a herniated disc that had troubled him for over 10 years.
- The surgery aimed to fix long-term pain and issues that worsened during training camps.
- He followed a 6-8 week initial recovery before gradually returning to full training.
- Bivol has completed around two months of hard preparation for the May 30 fight.
- He reported feeling much better post-surgery and has been training seriously in camp.
- At 35 years old and after 13+ months out of the ring, questions remain about ring rust and full explosiveness.
- His movement and durability in the early rounds will be the biggest test after the layoff and surgery.
- No recent reports of back problems during training; he looks physically ready according to his team.
- This is a cautious comeback fight against Eifert to ease back in rather than a high-risk opponent.
That’s what we know and by all accounts Bivol feels in good form physically after such major back surgery.
Brain and back surgeries are maybe the two most serious surgeries anyone can have though.
And when it comes to brain surgeries and back surgeries, and the brain and back in general, medical science and doctors around the world will tell you they are still in the dark on not knowing 100 per cent everything on them.
They are never totally guaranteed successes.
So we will see how Bivol’s body holds up this weekend.
