Shane Mosley Jr is the son of American former multi-weight world champion ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley and returns this weekend.
On a fight live on Paramount Plus against a tough big hitting-dangerous Ukrainian.
Shane Mosley senior will surely be in attendance at the fight. Speaking on his father’s role in his career to date Mosley Jr said:
“He’s played a big role. I feel that good, bad or indifferent wouldn’t be as close to boxing and have not as much insight into boxing if not for him. So I am very very thankful for that because it’s a sport that I love. I have such an appreciation for it. So having that and his mindset and things like that around me and having access to other fighters that had similar mindsets and things like that around me and even having access to fighters who had similar mindsets and having this kind of feeling that I’m different to everyone else, was an important thing.”
Certainly he will have been able to pick the brains of the father on technical advise and mental advise ahead of his latest fight in where he looks to bounce back from defeat.
But the father can’t get in there and fight for him of course. At the end of the day.
It is a big opportunity for him this weekend and many in America and around the world will be tuning in this weekend to see if he can still swim at a high level in professional boxing.
