May Pac 2 apparently has a new date but don’t hold your breath just yet as under pressure Mayweather is clearly in need of the fight.
Some places online are saying now that the fight is still being looked at.
Still in Vegas but now for September 26th. It has to be a proper pro boxing match and exhibition won’t do or cut it for Netflix, the entire sport and world sports fans.
Here’s why:
- Real stakes: Mayweather’s 50-0 is on the line. Exhibitions don’t count.
- Big money: Their 2015 pro fight did 4.6M PPV + $72M gate.
- Netflix needs legitimacy: Pro fights sell to 325M+ subscribers.
- Historic claim: It’s marketed as the first pro fight at the Sphere.
- Bragging rights: Pacquiao wants to hand Floyd his first loss.
- Not a cash-grab: Pro rules fight the “nostalgia circus” label.
- Retirement must mean something: Floyd came back for records, not exhibitions.
- Global business: Pro status drives betting, sanctions, and TV deals.
- Contrast matters: Pacquiao fought in 2025. Floyd hasn’t since 2017.
- Fan trust: Boxing fans want a real fight, not a sparring match.
Ahead of the supposed fight Pacman has not been impressed with the Mayweather TBE claim.
