Oscar De La Hoya vs Chavez facing off again all these years later has got a lot of interest online from boxing fans around the world.
They actually fought twice.
De La Hoya won both fights by TKO. One due to a cut over Chavez’ eye and the other a stoppage.

- How: Doctor stopped the fight due to a massive cut over Chávez’s left eye caused by De La Hoya’s jab. Blood was pouring into his eye.
- Significance: Passed the torch. Chávez was 33, 96-1-1 and a Mexican legend. De La Hoya was 23, 21-0, “Golden Boy”. Fight did 750k PPV buys.

- How: Chávez retired on his stool after Round 8. He took a beating, was cut again, and told his corner “ya no más” basically.
