According to some the fight will be on soon between Haney and Romero.
Maybe a surprise fight to some given that everyone is still talking about the big Haney vs Ryan Garcia rematch.
But both Romero and Haney are now world champions at welterweight don’t forget.
That adds some weight to the fight and both are decent size names in America. People in America have certainly heard of Haney
and are somewhat getting to know Romero.
Since he won the world title in a fight with Ryan Garcia in 2025.
Haney is the new man at the 147 pounds limit however having moved up to win his title for now over Brian Norman Jr not long ago.
The move from super lightweight to welterweight looks to have suited him for now and you’d possibly have to make Romero an underdog if they fight.
A slight one though.
Romero has shown to have good ability in his win over Garcia but like Garcia is very unpredictable away from boxing outside the ring in recent years.
Haney more consistent and dedicated to boxing it comes across to us at least.
Styles wise Haney does most things well but nothing really well when you compare him to someone like a Shakur Stevenson’s defense or the all round fight game of Terence Crawford.
Romero similar but Haney would be a bit more skilled as a fighter and seasoned as well in the sport in his professional tenure to date.
It could be a battle of who starts well in the fight and establishes his game plan best in the contest first.
A close fight for us in terms of the match up on the face of it but you’d possibly give Haney a slight edge at this point over Romero.
