Mayweather 50-0 Legacy vs Pacquiao 2
Be careful what you wish for Floyd Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather has been tried and testing many times. Never defeated. Never beaten.
Mind you, he has been rocked and hurt a few times in his professional fight career. Luis Castillo, Emanuel Augustus, Shane Mosley, briefly in round on from Ricky Hatton catching him off balance with a jab, Demarcus Corley.
All the above gave him scares.
Marcos Maidana and De La Hoya landed some stuff on him, sure, but they didn’t really rock or hurt him at any point when you go back over those fights.
Whereas the above even only very briefly, put him in some harms way.
The thing is though, he came through it with flying colors every time and out foxed and out boxed them all easily after being rocked.
All of them.
To a man.
Came up short.
Many have tried and all have failed.
He steps in there with a man he outboxed easy some years ago now against the Filipino legend Pacman this September.
Taking on two exhibition bouts firstly to get ready (the big one against Mike Tyson next month).
He always put that undefeated record on the line and protected it like crazy but now, at 49, it will be under threat if he boxes on past Pacman in September.
He would go 51-0 if he wins but if he actually boxes on past that and steps in there with young contenders, there is danger there for him again at welterweight.
We’re not sure if he will put that undefeated legacy in harms way however.
We don’t think so.
First up for Mayweather is Mike Tyson next month however — roll on.
