It is the Gypsy King’s big comeback to the sport next month.
A former heavyweight champion who has only ever lost twice as a pro only to all time great for us Oleksandr Usyk. We know James Toney won’t be happy with that last part.
But maybe Toney one day over a cigar in the good old USA somewhere might indulge us slightly on that when Usyk’s career is all said and done at that point.
Fury nearly had the beating of Usyk in one of those fights as well many thought.
So his comeback next month on Netflix has gotten a lot of attention already in 2026 to see what kind of Fury will return from the break from the sport.
In training he looks to be in the best shape of his life certainly. Strong, powerful.
Much stronger and more powerful than the younger days when he outboxed Wladimir Klitschko in Germany to shock the world.
But if he can get some of that old hand speed, movement and that gas tank, or even better stamina that that back, he could really give Usyk a run for his money if he gets a shot again.
He’s been partially trained by his good friend and former heavyweight champion Joseph Parker as well.
You don’t get better training partners than that as well for sparring, and a trainer, literally the two at the same time, than that.
To get an actual live heavyweight contender who’s improved like he has in recent years to be your sparring partner and boxing trainer is very rare indeed.
We don’t think we’ve actually heard of that happening at high level professional boxing ever.
To bring in one of your actual rivals, who is your friend, but a rival in boxing at the moment still an active fighter, for him to train you and to spar with you, is unprecedented.
