It is not over yet though. It can still happen.
The Filipino legend will not box Mayweather in a pro boxing rematch next up straight away.
He will fight a boxing exhibition it is understood although he has not officially confirmed this just yet either.
Strange as he had a great fight with Mario Barrios for the world title only last year.
Expect big things for him and Mayweather however later in the year.
It is thought Pacman will fight a boxing exhibition again shortly. Here’s some facts on all the above for clarity for new fans and old fans of boxing:
Manny Pacquiao’s Next Fight:
- 10-round welterweight exhibition vs. Ruslan Provodnikov.
- Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026.
- Location: Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas.
- Promoted by Banner Promotions and Manny Pacquiao Promotions.
- No official scoring; exhibition rules.
- Provodnikov (former WBO junior welterweight champ) last fought in 2016 and was once Pacquiao’s sparring partner.
Mayweather Passing on Rematch “For Now”:
- Floyd Mayweather recently stated he is passing on a rematch with Pacquiao at this time.
- He emphasized focusing on his own business ventures and selective exhibition fights instead.
- This directly counters claims that Mayweather is “desperate for money” or “broke.”
- Mayweather has consistently earned massive paydays from exhibitions (e.g., vs. Logan Paul, John Gotti III, etc.) and runs multiple businesses, including his promotion company, investments, and branded ventures.
- He has said publicly that he does not need to fight for financial reasons and only returns when the matchup and money align perfectly.
Rematch Possibility Later in 2026:
- The door remains open for a rematch later this year.
- Both sides have indicated it’s still possible if schedules, terms, and interest line up.
- Pacquiao is staying active with this exhibition to keep sharp.
- Mayweather has not ruled it out completely, only deferred it “for now.”
