Conor Benn On Why Liability Ryan Garcia Is Great For Boxing

Whacky Ryan Garcia always is entertaining.

In the ring in his fights, even when he’s been knocked out and outside the ring in his car crash of a life, always in some crazy situations in the US and so on.

But that sells and is of use to boxing of course as he’s a big name and he’s still relevant for now in the news and in the US.

Speaking to Ring Magazine, UK contender Conor Benn said of Garcia:

“Ryan Garcia is great for boxing. I think he’s a liability. I think he’s a loose cannon. I think he’s unpredictable. Could say unprofessional… but ultimately he’s sheer entertainment, gifted, he’s got great hand speed, he’s athletic, he’s young… when you have them qualities mixed with someone who’s… has true Mexican blood, you know, fights with heart, fights with pride… it’s hard to pick who’s going to win… I understand the pain… everybody handles it differently… maybe he couldn’t handle it and, you know, had to party…”

On a potential fight with Garcia:
“Yeah, I agree… Ryan’s a character… if Ryan does win, you know, no doubt we can make Ryan um at Wembley in London in June, July.”

Time will tell.

Certainly Garcia must come through Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title this month first up.

If he wins he’s a world champion and the fight is just even bigger than.

Conor Benn is on a roll after a big win all the way up at middleweight in the Eubank Jr rematch last year.

Even dropping a middleweight.

Now fighting back at welterweight if he does the weight right he can powerful then.

Very powerful.

Now that Terence Crawford is retired — new stars in the US and UK continue to try to get to pound for pound number one.

Garcia and Conor Benn will mount their challenges to get into the list this year.
