And the New….!
What a win again this weekend. The UK now has only five world champions in professional boxing.
That was reduced from six to five after an outstanding knockout a short time ago.
Brandon Figueroa went to the UK and ripped away the title from Nick Ball via knockout:
We said there would be many vicious knockouts happening all the time in boxing this year and we were right.
The sport is off to a flyer this year but much more to go. Well done to both boxers but it was all about Figueroa this weekend.
He is now a three-weight world champion as well.
Some facts on him and the boxing result above this weekend:
- Won the WBA featherweight title via 12th-round TKO/KO against Nick Ball in Liverpool, England.
- Dramatic come-from-behind finish: Dropped Ball early in round 12 with a left hook, then stopped him 32 seconds in.
- Became a three-weight world champion (super bantamweight and featherweight titles previously).
- Record now 27-2-1 (20 KOs); Nick Ball’s first loss, now 23-1-1 (13 KOs).
- Fought as underdog on opponent’s home turf and silenced the crowd with the late stoppage.
- First world title win since losing his previous featherweight belt in 2025.
