Terence Crawford insists he is done in boxing.
Saying recently even $100 million US dollars would not be enough to bring him back to boxing.
He comes across as genuine with that but his former opponent Canelo Alvarez wants the rematch.
Speaking to Ring Magazine Alvarez said:
“Yeah, of course. I always give him all his credit, but we need to run it back. That’s why right after the fight I said we need to run it back — because I didn’t feel the way I really wanted to feel, and I need to make this fight happen again. It’s going to be different. I think for him to deserve all the credit, he needs to give me the rematch. Obviously he decided to retire and we have to accept that and move forward. I’m going to keep moving forward, fight world champions again… but I think the rematch would be perfect for boxing.”
The two fight last year in September in a super fight in Las Vegas on Netflix that proved a huge success for the sport.
Alvarez lost a UD points decision to Crawford but ‘Bud’ Crawford even up at super-middleweight was maybe at his sharpest ever.
Maybe one of his boxing displays in recent times.
Alvarez has shown to not boxing great at 168 pounds and is a far more lethal, effective fighter at 160 pounds in our view.
We believe this to be the best weight class for Alvarez by far but time will tell where and who he fights next.
Boxing and Mexico will miss Alvarez when he is gone.
As will worldwide sport and fans.
A great character and story in boxing so far Alvarez.
