Teofimo Lopez should have a size advantage over Shakur Stevenson this weekend but the way he is speaking is not good for him.
He doesn’t seem to be winning the war of words before the fight at all.
He just makes himself look very unwise.
Stevenson however is more quiet. More purposeful. More precise.
Lopez said this week at a presser:
“Well, technically, he is a lightweight. He’s still the WBC champion in that division. I’m just bringing him up to my level. If he loses to me, he doesn’t really lose everything; he still has his “safety net” as a world champion at lightweight. It’s a “win-win” for him because they can say they tried. For me, it’s different.”
Stevenson will have a big speed advantage that he can use to his advantage on Saturday night.
It is almost as if Lopez is trying to hype himself up in his own mind a bit.
That won’t work.
Stevenson doesn’t care for games.
He is going to step in there with a cold dose of reality.
Understand that.
