Until fights are actually confirmed in professional boxing nothing is official and this is some wild news for Usyk.
By all accounts heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk should be taking on Deontay Wilder this coming June.
That is what the consensus is saying.
But UK heavyweight Derek Chisora who is linked with a fight against Deontay Wilder in April before that for Usyk has revealed some surprise news.
Speaking on Talk Sport Chisora has said that Usyk will fight former world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr.
Mexico’s first and only heavyweight champion of all time.
Not confirmed and not clear if that would happen after the Wilder fight for Usyk as well.
But that is what is clearly being considered at some point for Usyk.
A great fight as well and another massive name in America and Mexico which will help Usyk’s star worldwide and in the US as well.
If he were to fight both Wilder and Ruiz in 2026 that will be great for both Usyk and boxing.
He could very well sign with TKO and Zuffa Boxing to achieve this possibly soon as well.
Usyk remains number one pound for pound for us at the moment.
