Ryan Garcia lost in a world title fight to Rolly Romero in 2025 and did not look great in how he boxed in the fight whatsoever. Far from it.
He lost on points and after which he went to get surgery. We thought he would be back as he landed on his feet fighting for the world title next year against Mario Barrios in early 2026 but he doesn’t appear to be very serious in training.
Between sparring rappers and hitting fans, and apparently being very heavy at the moment way over his fight weight of 147 pounds, and apparently using alcohol to excess again recently, it is concerning for Garcia to say the least.
Mario Barrios on the other hand will be more motivated than ever when next February rolls around when they fight — after coming off a draw with Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in 2025.
Is Ryan Garcia Repeating The Same Mistakes
Garcia will be stepping in there with a taller foe who will have a fire lit under him to bounce back better from the Pacquiao draw and if Garcia is slipping in training even one per cent, he will be found out in the ring on fight night.
Garcia is now coming up to Christmas and like most professional boxers with a fight coming up in the new year, will be expected to train hard and get ready for his upcoming WBC welterweight world title fight in the early new year.
Garcia has served his time for the one year ban from boxing now for a banned substance and you’d think he has learned from everything at this point.
Time will tell how it unfolds for Garcia, we expected him to be back stronger than ever, but the jury is still out on that for now.
There are big rematches there for Garcia as well but time will tell.
