Why Sugar Ray Robinson Remains The Pound-For-Pound King

Muhammad Ali is often talked about as the greatest boxer of all time but not for us he isn’t, he was certainly up there though, definitely.

Ali was an electric fighter in his time that could do things very few could match and go to places physically and mentally that few men can dream of going to, and come out of it the winner and victorious.

His greatest strength was his heart, his courage, but it was also his greatest weakness as he was literally willing to die in the ring.

That mentality kept him fighting on simply too long.

His prime years he was actually out of the ring due to a ban by the US government at the time who banned him due to not enlisting in the Vietnam war, something Ali would later be proved right in.

Very right in.

Why Sugar Ray Robinson Remains the Pound-for-Pound King

Ali never really threw body shots much either in his career and although had freakish speed for a heavyweight and amazing combinations and good power, never through the body shot much.

‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson on the other hand not only did he had it all, strength, power, brains, footwork and didn’t stay in the ring that long after he should have.

Robinson was a pure boxing machine as well, that’s what he was put on this Earth only to be, a pure boxing fighting machine in the sport of boxing, nowhere else.

Ali however was bigger than boxing and sport, and movies, he could have done anything he put his mind to and being successful, he was a life genius.

Robinson as well fought way more frequently than not only Ali but most pound for pound champions in history.

Fighting a few times a month was not uncommon for him at one point, something the world has never seen again.

For us Ray Robinson will always be the best pound for pound boxer of all time, not Muhammad Ali.

Muhammad Ali is the best fighting heart and fighting spirit of any man of all time for us though, who, happened to be a boxer.
