There is a new unexpected contender in the heavyweight division and he comes from Russia after a huge knockout win.
On Friday night,32-year-old Murat Georgievich Gassiev recorded a first round brutal knockout over previous WBA regular heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev.
Gassiev had been known to boxing fans years before having won titles at cruiserweight but no one expected such a finish on Friday night.
Russia Has A New Heavyweight Contender
The hook took Pulev out and such a big win in round one and now having the WBA regular belt has to place him as a new contender in the division.
His only losses in 35 pro fights to Otto Wallin and Oleksandsr Usyk some years ago.
His record is now 33-2-26 KO and the win in Dubai on Friday night has put him in the market for big fights next.
