Oleksandr Usyk recently said he wanted to fight the former WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder.

Wilder had a knockout comeback win earlier in 2025 and impressed in the fight.
Despite having a late change of trainers on the week of the fight as well.
Usyk vs Deontay Wilder Takes Big Step To Becoming Reality
Now, according to Sky Sports, Usyk has put in for a voluntary defense of his titles next up.
Meaning he can bypass the mandatory route and this has now been accepted as well.
That means he is free to have a voluntary defense now and choose Deontay Wilder should he wish to fight him next.
