In the future, maybe the near future at some point, the idea of bringing in a National Boxing Commission in America has been proposed a few times.
But how exactly would it work?
Almost like a Rodger Goodell of boxing where a national oversight body would over see all the Athletic Commissions who regulate professional boxing, MMA and unarmed combat in every State.
But with a focus on boing and doing away with the latter two, just boxing.
He would need to have some federal power for one.
One that goes above just State legislative power and whereby on a federal, national level, if there were untoward goings on in boxing that he could bring in not only federal authorities into a State to shut down any State wrongs in the sport, but other departments of the national government as well.
As well as maybe handing out fines on a national basis done through Washington as the country’s capital.
How A National Boxing Commissioner May Work
You could base such a Commissioner’s office and team in the nation’s capital as well, of Washington D.C. — potentially.
You wouldn’t just give him and his team a big stick but you’d make them better as well at attracting big boxing events to America to compete with other countries who have become much better than America these days at marketing their countries as places to go to.
You’d make sure each State respects the unified rules of boxing as well and all professional bouts adhere to the same safety and health protocols and if one State bans a fighter, all the States ban him and so on and there is uniformity of the States working together and reporting into the National Commission’s office.
You could look at going back to same day weigh-ins as well and draft this into the National Commission’s founding incorporation cert as it were, it could be a semi State body or a full government one.
You’d make sure that now how big a city is like New York or anywhere else that they all report into the national commission in DC.
Alas, there’s a few things you could do.
Let’s come back to that.
